Job summary

INTECH is seeking an Instrumentation & Control specialist in Abu Dhabi to supervise instrument installation, review drawings, and coordinate FAT/SAT testing during commissioning. You will validate loop checks and assist with PLC/SCADA/HMI commissioning, ensuring safety interlocks and BMS logic are properly implemented.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, coordination with electrical and process teams, and adherence to project standards and HSE guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience with instrumentation and control system drawings (P&ID, hook-up, wiring).
• Ability to supervise instrument installation per drawings and project requirements.
• Capable of testing and validating control/instrumentation systems (FAT/SAT).
• Familiar with BMS logic, interlocks, trips and safety functions.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and understand Instrumentation, P&ID, hook-up, wiring, termination, loop, and control system drawings.
• Supervise and coordinate instrument installation in accordance with approved drawings, hook-ups, specifications, and project requirements.
• Verify proper installation, calibration, termination, tubing, cabling, and functionality of field instruments.
• Support the commissioning of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, including understanding control logic, sequences, alarms, interlocks, and permissives.
• Review and understand PLC logic and control narratives and coordinate with the controls team for troubleshooting and modifications.
• Conduct and supervise internal testing, functional testing, and FAT for control and instrumentation systems.
• Perform and coordinate loop checking, continuity checks, point-to-point checks, cold commissioning, and hot commissioning/testing.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues during testing and commissioning and coordinate corrective actions.
• Work with Burner Management Systems (BMS), including understanding of associated logic, interlocks, permissives, trips, and safety functions.
• Verify the functionality of control loops, alarms, trips, interlocks, sequences, and emergency shutdown functions.
• Utilize I&C testing equipment and tools, including calibrators, multimeters, loop testers, signal generators, and other instrumentation testing equipment.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, and commissioning teams to resolve interface and site issues.
• Ensure testing and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable standards.
• Prepare and maintain test records, loop folders, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and FAT/SAT documentation.
• Support site commissioning activities and provide technical assistance during equipment start-up and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, project requirements, HSE standards, and quality requirements.
