IntroductionThe Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for faculty positions in Psychology at the levels of instructor and assistant/associate professor. The area of specialization is open but applicants with proven expertise in the fields of Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or Cross-Cultural Psychology are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong research background and/or an established program of research with evidence of high-quality publications in Scopus linked journals.
The Psychology ProgramThe psychology program which is part of the Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with excellent research facilities. The program has recently expanded the number of course offerings to students and we seek a collegial and talented colleague to bring the enhanced program to fruition. Research strengths of the program include neuroscience, cognitive psychology, clinical psychology, school psychology and psychometric assessment.
The UniversityThe UAEU is located in Al Ain city (Emirate of Abu Dhabi), on the border with Oman and about 1.5 hours drive from the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Start DateThe successful candidate will be expected to commence work at UAEU in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Minimum QualificationAssistant/Associate Professor Position (Position Number 311380)Applicants must have earned a bachelor's and a relevant doctoral degree in psychology from an internationally reputable university.
Instructor Position (Position Number 329630)Applicants must have earned a minimum master's degree in psychology from an internationally reputable university.
Applicants at all levels must have (a) a proven track record of research publications in accredited peer-reviewed scientific journals commensurate with career stage and (b) a proven record of effective teaching experience at undergraduate level.
Preferred Additional QualificationsPreference may be given to applicants who (1) have completed recognized professional development courses in the provision of third level education and (2) relevant practical experience in the fields of clinical psychology (leading to licensure), developmental psychology, or cross-cultural Psychology.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate is expected to:
- Provide high quality instruction to undergraduate students.
- Conduct and publish high quality research within an area of their professional interest.
- Present research at national and international conferences.
- Serve on internal department, college and university committees.
- Engage in activities that will promote department excellence at national and international levels.
As the language of instruction at UAEU is English, applicants need to have native or near-native fluency in English.
