Job summary

A leading company in the oil & gas sector is seeking a Welding/QC Inspector with extensive experience and certifications. Your role will involve monitoring welding processes, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, relevant certifications, and a minimum of 7 years of experience in similar roles, particularly within major EPC contractors.   • Minimum 7 years experience as Welding/Piping/Pipeline QC Inspector.
  • Experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry, especially with major EPC.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on all welding processes including inspections.
  • Ensure all NDE testing is compliant with approved procedures.
  • Review inspection reports and conduct visual and dimensional checks.

Job description

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for Welding and NDT Level II Certifications for NDE.
  • CSWIP film interpretation/CSWIP 3.2.2/ RTFI Level II Certification through Petrofac for RT interpretation.
  • Minimum 7 years experience as Welding/Piping/Pipeline QC Inspector & Painting/coating/Refractory/Fireproofing QC Inspector.
  • Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry
  • Should have previously worked with major EPC contractor or their subcontractors

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welding:
  • Monitoring and reporting fabrication installation erection and testing processes of process piping steel structures tanks vessels and metallic items.
  • Review of WPS PQR and weld maps.
  • Witness Welder Qualifications. Ensure that material/welding consumables are stored and handled correctly when required material traceability is maintained and correct material used.
  • Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented.
  • Ensure welding machines/baking ovens/quivers are in serviceable condition and where required is within the valid calibration period.
  • Timely inspection during fabrication and construction.
  • Check for the qualification of the welding personnel and the kind of materials being used for the process.
  • Carry out inspection of work in progress including checking if the right procedure is followed for the welding process.
  • Perform visual and dimensional checks.
  • Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
  • Perform in process (before/during/after) and final visual inspections.
  • Prepare/Review Inspection reports(Fit-up Final Visual).
  • Monitor performance of contractors ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks have valid certification where required for the welding techniques in use.
  • Review test reports including PWHT chart/records for process output compliance with requirements.
  • Prepare/review daily welding reports.
NDE:
  • Ensure that all non-destructive testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures by qualified and certified personnel.
  • Verify validity of NDE Technicians certification for NDE method to be employed.
  • Verify calibration status suitability and serviceability of equipment and consumables to be used.
  • Coordinate NDE activities between subcontractor contractor and within Petrofac.
  • Monitor supervise and assist NDE subcontractors to achieve quality standards.
  • Witness performance of non-destructive testing and verify compliance with approved procedure.
  • Interpret NDE results for acceptability to specification and code requirements.
  • Review NDE reports and radiographs for compliance with procedure and code.
  • Ensure ambient conditions are acceptable for required process output including darkroom facilities.
  • Ensure that materials films chemicals etc. are stored and handled correctly.
  • Review NDE procedures for suitability compliance to specifications and code requirements.
  • Maintain status of NDE performed accepted/rejected and outstanding.
  • Assist in the coordination of NDE activities
