Role Context

Reliable inspection evidence enables maintenance teams to address deterioration before it affects containment, availability or safe operation. This position will maintain equipment-condition histories, anticipate future examination needs and coordinate access for online inspection work. The engineer will also provide quality oversight for welding, fabricated components, repaired parts and specialized contractor services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the condition of field equipment, piping and facilities using current nondestructive examination techniques.
  • Develop inspection plans and schedules from historical records and RBI study findings.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Availability Division to forecast inspection-access requirements.
  • Arrange scaffolding, insulation removal and crane support for online examinations.
  • Select testing methods appropriate to the equipment, material and suspected defect.
  • Document inspection observations, abnormalities and recommended actions.
  • Attach checklists, assembly drawings and sketches that identify specific defect locations.
  • Communicate inspection findings to maintenance and other responsible departments.
  • Raise work orders for corrective or preventive action based on inspection results.
  • Review work-order scope and ensure recommendations are properly addressed.
  • Verify job completion before formally closing inspection-related work orders.
  • Coordinate material analysis and hardness testing for equipment parts and assemblies.
  • Arrange coating-thickness and ferrite testing when required.
  • Inspect spare parts supplied for fabrication, maintenance and overhaul activities.
  • Evaluate reconditioned components and parts used in modification work.
  • Confirm the quality of new piping, equipment and installation materials.
  • Investigate discrepancies and complete required examinations before issuing reports.
  • Review final quality-control dossiers submitted by contractors.
  • Coordinate specialized assignments with third-party inspection agencies.
  • Prepare Welding Procedure Specifications for relevant work.
  • Develop welder-qualification documentation and testing requirements.
  • Witness qualification tests and prepare certificates for successful welders.
  • Submit welder certifications for Asset Integrity approval.
  • Perform technical evaluations of external inspection contractors.
  • Develop inspection scopes, job checklists and coordination requirements.
  • Maintain current inspection files, test records and equipment histories.
  • Support inspection planning, scheduling and field execution across assigned assets.
Ideal Profile

Applicants must hold a Bachelor 's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline. At least eight years of relevant experience in inspection, metallurgy or industrial asset assurance is required. The ideal candidate will understand inspection codes, RBI-based planning, welding qualification and material-testing practices. Strong technical reporting and contractor-coordination skills are essential, together with the ability to convert examination results into practical maintenance requirements. Relevant professional certification should be held where applicable.
