Job summary

Khalifa University seeks a Lab Specialist to support the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course. You will mentor student teams, help design and test prototypes, and ensure safe, well-maintained laboratories. You will contribute to establishing interdisciplinary engineering workflows and support faculty during studio sessions.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with embedded systems, robotics, sensors, and rapid prototyping, fostering student learning and innovation in a university lab setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science with knowledge and practical experience relevant to interdisciplinary engineering design, mechatronics, robotics, embedded systems, and prototyping.
• Master’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Strong troubleshooting and mentoring abilities.
• Experience in university lab or makerspace environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for student projects involving robotics, embedded systems, sensors, electronics, and automation.
• Assist students with prototype design, fabrication, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
• Support experimental setup, data acquisition, calibration, and interpretation of results.
• Mentor students in applying the Engineering Design Process and Scientific Method.
