Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Support Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software systems across Head Office, Retail Stores, Production Facilities, and Warehouses. This role also provides critical support for Point-of-Sale systems to ensure smooth business operations and enhance the customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. PC and User Support

  • Set up and configure workstations for new and existing employees.
  • Ensure workstations adhere to the company’s IT security policies.
  • Provide prompt troubleshooting and resolution of hardware and software issues to minimise downtime.
  • Support business meetings and virtual conferencing tools.

2. Point-of-Sale (POS) Support

  • Install and maintain POS hardware and software across retail stores and online platforms.
  • Troubleshoot POS issues to maintain seamless customer transactions.
  • Implement and test new POS-related business requirements.

3. Scale System Management

  • Maintain up-to-date scale systems with current prices and article listings.
  • Coordinate with scale vendors for regular maintenance and troubleshooting.

4. ERP Sales Capture

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of sales data into ERP systems.
  • Provide overnight support for store end-of-day processing and sales data synchronisation.
  • Monitor key background jobs related to forecasting and replenishment, and escalate issues as needed.

5. Price Updates

  • Monitor background jobs related to price changes and ensure POS and scale devices reflect updates in real time.
  • Perform manual corrections in case of update failures or exceptions.

6. Technical Support for Stores and Business Units

  • Deliver remote and onsite technical support to retail stores, warehouses, production facilities, and international operations.
  • Install and troubleshoot VPN connectivity for remote users.
  • Support inventory devices such as handheld scanners and label printers.
  • Manage IT equipment in production areas, including price label printers and digital signage systems.

7. Application Support

  • Assist users with application-related issues and provide basic troubleshooting.
  • Ensure key software applications are up-to-date and fully functional.
  • Deliver user training and escalate complex issues to relevant technical teams.

8. Security Operations Monitoring

  • Monitor email alerts from the Security Operations Center and notify the IT Security Team of critical incidents in a timely manner.

9. Project Support

  • Provide technical assistance for various IT projects, including new store openings, refurbishments, closures, and warehouse setups.
  • Assist in preparing and installing network infrastructure, POS systems, self-service checkouts, PCs, printers, scales, and handheld devices.
  • Ensure full configuration and connectivity of IT systems during site installations

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a retail or multi-site environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware setup, troubleshooting, and network connectivity.
  • Strong understanding of Point-of-Sale systems and ERP integration.
  • Basic knowledge of IT security and VPN technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Willingness to travel to store or warehouse locations or work shift timings as required
