Job Description

The role of an Indirect Procurement Lead is to support the sourcing and purchasing of technical goods and services for the organization, ensuring they are purchased from specified suppliers that meet demand requirements, business, and quality specifications. Expertise in technical specifications and supplier evaluation is required, playing a critical role in maintaining an efficient supply chain and supporting successful execution and fulfillment to our customer. This role may also involve negotiating with suppliers and ensuring goods and services are delivered upon agreed terms and conditions, seeking maximum value for the company including cost and time efficiency.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the technical specifications of procured products and services. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to interpret technical drawings, requirements, and standards.
2. Review purchase requisitions raised by Operations and/or Manufacturing branches.
3. Seek clarification of requests by obtaining necessary information such as technical specifications and delivery dates.
4. Source requested parts/services to meet specifications per guidelines.
5. Check existing inventory for redeployment opportunities.
6. Utilize contract pricing where available.
7. Request quotes from suppliers, communicate delivery needs, and evaluate responses for accuracy, pricing, and delivery requirements.
8. Use competitive bidding to target the best quality, delivery, and total cost of ownership.
9. Manage tasks related to purchase orders, including creation, communication, and updates.
10. Monitor and update purchase orders for changes affecting delivery and costs.
11. Act as liaison between supplier and source-to-pay functions to resolve issues related to payments, receipts, invoices, and shipping.
12. Participate in supplier contract negotiations and review processes, developing relationships with key strategic suppliers.
13. Ensure the safe and efficient use of company systems, tools, and reports.
14. Support supplier base rationalization in collaboration with sourcing and category management teams.
15. Report and follow up on supplier non-conformances.
16. Use material planning reports to determine and review supply requirements to support business and production demands.
17. Assess supplier relationship needs based on transaction type and leverage relationships for operational efficiencies.
18. Ensure compliance with processes and documentation standards in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.

Skills & Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) and Demand Resource Planning (DRP).
• Good understanding of procurement processes, industry standards, and supplier management.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to influence.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing operational requirements.
• Effective communication in English and potentially other relevant languages.

Qualifications

• 10 years of overall experience in planning, purchasing, and material optimization.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a supervisor or manager.
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or oil & gas industries preferred.
• Experience in procurement, supply chain, planning, or material management roles.
• Project management or related certifications (Six Sigma, PMP, Lean) preferred.
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
