Job description

Oversee compliance and risk management for this global tech health care organisation (AI focused) providing essential legal advice, assisting with state and regulatory legal matters, and ensuring that all business contracts follow mandated policies and guidelines.

This organisation is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, combining parent companies' expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a single platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations. Building on our capabilities as sovereign cloud and HPC specialists, they bring generative AI, cybersecurity, professional and managed services expertise to enable national-scale program deployments across industries.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that accurate, proactive and timely legal advice is shared with management teams on all matters of compliance, business risk, joint ventures, M&A and other areas of corporate/regulatory policies & guidelines.
  • Outline legal implications that may arise while carrying out business and suggest alternatives to ensure the organization is protected against any potential legal liabilities.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a highly effective legal compliance program and its related policies & procedures in addition to risk and dispute prevention strategy.
  • Assess the status of legal risk and compliance on a regular basis, leading the preparation of related action plans and overseeing its implementation.
  • Ensure the protection and enforcement of their rights by overseeing litigation-related matters, local laws, contractual obligations, and conflict management.
  • Ensure that the legal team identifies and liaises with the relevant judicial departments/government entities for follow-up regarding legal correspondence, fighting claims made by or against them and appearing in court/expert hearings when required.
  • Anticipate legal risks for this corporate and brief the Group Legal Counsel on critical issues as necessary.
  • Oversee the development of standard contract templates & legal documents and ensure they are updated based on the needs of the business, changes in legislation, and other legal requirements.
  • Oversee the management of all corporate legal affairs for the team including organization structure, powers of attorney, delegation of authorities, commercial licenses, commercial law compliance, and advice on adherence to corporate governance matters.
  • Ensure employees are provided with the right education and training on the UAE’s legislative regulations and industry practices, accurately addressing their concerns or questions on legal compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in Law
  • Understanding of policies, laws and regulations related to Digital Transformation, Smart Cities/Nations, Cloud, and Cyber Security

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant legal experience
  • Preferably 4 years of experience in a global technology company

Job Specific Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of the UAE (if possible)
  • Experience working with governmental departments & organizations in the UAE
  • Fluency in Arabic a bonus
