Job summary

GEMS OUR OWN ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL - DUBAI is seeking a skilled Computer/IT teacher to deliver the curriculum and plan engaging lessons. You will create and use materials and the classroom environment to suit diverse learning styles, while maintaining records of planning, attendance and assessment.

The role requires collaboration with colleagues and adherence to school policies. The teacher should motivate students, assess and report on progress, and promote wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Regular Bachelor's degree in Computer/IT and knowledge of the latest technologies.
• Skilled teacher with commitment to teaching and learning and strong subject knowledge.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with students and colleagues.
• Two years' teaching experience in relevant subject.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the required curriculum with up-to-date subject knowledge.
• Plan and deliver quality lessons, using materials and environment to suit diverse learners.
• Maintain records of curriculum plans, attendance, and assessment.
• Follow school policies and codes of conduct at all times.
• Teach according to individual student needs, including ESL and varied abilities.
• Set, mark, and assess work; report on student progress and attainment.
• Utilise media and technology in the classroom.
• Promote student wellbeing and guidance on educational matters.
• Participate in and lead co-curricular programmes; assist in school events.

Job description

• Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
• Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
• Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
• Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
• Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teachingstrategies that meet student needs and abilities eg late-entering students, ESL,low academic ability, gifted and talented etc.
• Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academicdevelopment, progress and attainment of students and use assessment toensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
• Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
• Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
• Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials and experiences.
• Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (eg inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days etc).
