Job summary

GEMS World Academy - Dubai is seeking a PYP Cover Teacher for Primary Education to provide reliable coverage across Early Years to Grade 5 in Dubai, UAE. The role supports curriculum continuity within a diverse IB learning community and uses inquiry-based approaches to maintain high standards of teaching.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Education and has 2+ years of varied primary teaching experience, with IB PYP exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum 2 years of varied primary school teaching experience.
• Experience with International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme preferred.
• Must be located in UAE with visa permitting work.
• Willingness to complete UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons across Early Years to Grade 5 classrooms.
• Follow PYP units, learning objectives and teacher instructions.
• Maintain continuity of learning during short-term absences.
• Apply inquiry-based teaching approaches that encourage curiosity.
• Adapt to different year groups and classroom environments.
• Communicate progress and concerns to permanent teachers or school leaders.
• Promote inclusive, respectful classroom participation and safeguarding.
