Job summary

GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding IB DP Coordinator to join from January 2027. You will inspire students to develop a lifelong love of learning while driving the school’s IB programme forward.

As part of GEMS Education, you will lead the DP team, ensure IB compliance, and collaborate with teachers, parents and leadership to support student progress and successful completion of the Diploma Programme.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed) or a subject-related degree with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state teaching licence or equivalent).
• Strong experience within the IB Diploma Programme, ideally including previous experience as an IBDP Coordinator or in an IB leadership/coordination role.
• Solid understanding of IBDP standards, assessment requirements, policies and programme administration.
• Proven experience supporting teachers and students within an IB environment; ability to drive high standards of teaching, learning and student outcomes.
• Excellent organisation, communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
• Collaborative and reflective leader, committed to continuous improvement and the values and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the effective implementation and ongoing development of the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in line with IB standards, practices and school priorities.
• Ensure the school remains compliant with all IB requirements, policies, procedures and assessment regulations, coordinating key deadlines and submissions.
• Support and guide DP teachers in curriculum planning, assessment, moderation and the delivery of high-quality IB teaching and learning.
• Coordinate the administration of the Diploma Programme, including student registrations, examinations, internal assessments and communication with the IB.
• Work closely with students, parents, teachers and school leadership to support subject selection, student progress and successful completion of the Diploma Programme.
• Lead professional learning and collaboration across the DP team, promoting best practice and contributing to the continued development of the school's IB provision.
