Job summary

GE Vernova in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced Tender Engineering Manager to lead the technical coordination for HVDC project tenders, including offshore platforms. You will act as the technical bid leader and primary customer contact, guiding multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative, safe, and compliant solutions on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of HVDC, FACTS, industrial, or renewable sector experience.
• Experience in HVDC/Grid Solution Integration is mandatory.
• Excellent English communication, written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel worldwide up to 20% or more.

Job Description Summary

The Tender Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the overall technical coordination and management during the tender phase of large or complex projects. These projects may involve HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology on offshore platforms and require collaboration with multiple stakeholders worldwide. The role acts as an HVDC Technical Bid Leader and the primary technical point of contact with the customer, ensuring that all technical aspects of the tender are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements. The Manager leads the development of optimal technical solutions and manages the technical risks and opportunities throughout the tender process.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall technical coordination and management during the tendering phase of HVDC projects.
• Serve as the primary contact for the customer and work with the tender team to develop the best technical solutions.
• Ensure the technical tender design meets deadlines and quality standards.
• Coordinate and manage the global schedule of tender engineering activities, implement engineering processes, and oversee technical coordination across various work packages of large or complex projects.
• Select technical solutions that are safe, reliable, cost‑effective, easy to install and operate, in line with customer expectations, while delivering the necessary documentation according to the tender time schedule.
• Estimate the project engineering budget and develop the project execution engineering design strategy in collaboration with the Regional Technical Tendering Leader, the Regional Engineering Leader, and support from Project Engineering Managers.
• Manage the project from the execution phase (Order to Remittance – OTR) and support Functional Engineering Leaders such as Control, Platform, and Layout/Design leaders.
• Coordinate project engineers who have led similar projects during the execution stage to leverage experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in HVDC systems, FACTS, industrial, or renewable sectors.
• Experience in HVDC/Grid Solution Integration industry is mandatory.
• Strong communication skills in English, written and verbal.
• Ability and willingness to travel worldwide up to 20 % or more of the time.

Desired Characteristics

• Mastery of engineering processes such as civil work, plant engineering, control & protection hardware, system & performance studies, or electrical design.
• Experience with relevant standards and codes including IEC 62351, IEEE 1588, IEEE 802, IEEE 1402, IEC 62351, IEC 62501, and NERC CIP.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence others, and clearly present complex messages.
