Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior HVAC Designer with professional experience in HVAC design, specifically for onshore substation buildings. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in HVAC systems for industrial and utility-grade infrastructure and a high level of proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 3D design tools including AutoCAD 3D, S3D, and E3D.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare HVAC system designs including layout drawings, schematics, ducting, piping, and equipment placement for onshore substation buildings.
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D design models using AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD 3D, S3D (Smart 3D), and E3D (AVEVA).
• Ensure all designs meet international codes (e.g., ASHRAE, IEC) and project-specific standards.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) during all project phases conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure constructability and operational efficiency of HVAC systems.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior designers or drafters as needed.
• Maintain drawing and documentation records as per QA/QC standards and project requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• 8-10 years of hands-on experience in HVAC design, with at least 3 years on onshore substation projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and MicroStation.
• Strong experience with 3D design tools: S3D (SmartPlant 3D) and E3D (AVEVA Everything 3D).
• Thorough understanding of HVAC engineering principles and design practices for industrial or utility infrastructure.
• Familiarity with relevant HVAC codes and standards (ASHRAE, IEC, local codes).
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
• Experience in BIM coordination or multi-disciplinary design environments.
• Knowledge of HVAC load calculations and simulation tools is a plu s.
• Membership in professional bodies like ASHRAE is advantageous.
