Job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Engineer with strong expertise in design, coordination, BMS integration, and technical office support to join our in-house MEP division. The role involves managing HVAC system designs, coordinating with consultants and clients, reviewing subcontractor submissions, and supporting procurement and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in data centers, airports, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects, as well as commercial and residential developments. They must ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, UAE authority requirements, and sustainability frameworks such as LEED and Estidama.

Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: Perform HVAC load calculations, system sizing, and technical documentation. Review consultant design drawings and perform peer reviews with compliance reporting. Lead design and technical meetings with consultants, clients, and authorities. Supervise design deliverables during execution, ensuring accurate shop drawings. Integrate BMS requirements into HVAC design (control strategies, points schedule, schematics). Incorporate sustainability requirements (LEED, Estidama, energy efficiency standards) into HVAC design and equipment selection. Execute value engineering studies to optimize cost, performance, and energy efficiency.
• Coordination: Coordinate HVAC systems with other MEP and civil disciplines. Lead BIM coordination sessions, resolve clashes, and ensure proper system integration. Liaise with consultants and clients for approvals and technical meetings/workshops. Provide regular technical updates and reports to the Technical Director.
• Technical Office & Subcontractor Support: Provide technical support to site teams with design clarifications and technical reports. Review and track subcontractor engineering submissions, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards. Develop and maintain tracking systems for HVAC drawings, material submittals, method statements, and approvals. Prepare presentations to illustrate HVAC system scope and execution sequence. Define detailed scope of works for subcontract packages during procurement. Ensure subcontractor deliverables meet contractual, technical, and schedule requirements.
• Procurement & Vendor Support: Collaborate with suppliers/vendors to obtain HVAC and BMS-related material submittals. Issue RFQs/RFPs, review quotations, and prepare compliance statements with recommendations. Support material selection and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Execution, Testing & Commissioning: Provide design clarifications and technical assistance during site execution. Oversee BMS programming, integration, and HVAC control logic during commissioning. Witness and validate functional testing of HVAC equipment and BMS systems. Ensure preparation and approval of commissioning reports, O&M manuals, and handover documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 5 to 8 years of experience in HVAC design, coordination, technical office work, and commissioning
• Strong expertise in air systems, chilled water systems, chillers, DX units, VRF/VRV systems, ventilation, smoke management, and HVAC-BMS integration
• Proven experience in data center projects, airports, industrial plants, and infrastructure developments, as well as high-rise buildings, hospitality, and healthcare facilities
• Solid knowledge of UAE authority requirements (e.g., Municipality, Civil Defence)
• Proficient in HAP and other design software
• Familiar with AutoCAD and BIM coordination tools
• Ability to establish and manage tracking systems for engineering deliverables
• Excellent presentation, reporting, and communication skills
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
