Job description

The American University in the Emirates is seeking a Human Resources Director responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with the university's mission and goals. This role covers all aspects of HR management, including recruitment, talent development, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. The HR Director will foster a positive work environment and enhance the overall employee experience.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's Degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, or related field from an accredited university
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CIPD, GPHR, etc.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic
  • Proven experience in higher education is preferred

Skills / Training / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of university programs and operations, including administrative and academic affairs, is preferred
  • Comprehensive HR knowledge and practices, with solid understanding of regulations and employee relations

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement HR strategies supporting the university’s strategic objectives
  2. Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR initiatives with institutional goals
  3. Oversee recruitment processes to attract and retain top talent

  5. Implement training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills
  6. Establish career development and succession planning strategies
  7. Implement performance management systems with clear expectations
  8. Conduct regular reviews to foster continuous feedback
  9. Use performance appraisals to recognize high performers and allocate resources effectively
  10. Foster positive employee relations and address concerns proactively
  11. Address employee issues to minimize disputes and legal risks
  12. Maintain effective communication channels for transparency
  13. Manage compensation structures ensuring competitiveness and fairness
  14. Oversee employee benefits and ensure legal compliance
  15. Ensure HR policies comply with UAE labor laws and university regulations
  16. Regularly review and update HR policies
  17. Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives
  18. Implement programs supporting a diverse workforce and cultural competency
  19. Analyze HR metrics to evaluate initiatives and identify improvements
  20. Prepare HR trend reports for senior leadership
  21. Utilize HRIS systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  22. Develop HR budgets aligned with organizational goals
  23. Evaluate the financial impact of HR initiatives before implementation
