Job Summary

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Officer to join our team. This role is best suited for a professional with strong HR operations experience, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive mindset. The successful candidate will support a wide range of HR functions, operations activities, employee relations, and performance management—ensuring alignment with UAE labor laws and AUE’s internal policies.

Note: Arabic language skills are a must.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Management, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in operations, employee relations, performance monitoring, and employee counseling.
  • Hands-on experience working with HR systems.
  • Knowledge of UAE Labour Law and practices.
  • Professional HR certifications are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Arabic is mandatory.
Job Description
  • Maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all employees, ensuring they are issued and signed by all new joiners.
  • Contact employees for visa and passport applications, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Oversee faculty and administrative staff orientation schedules and maintain attendance records and checklists.
  • Assist new joiners with onboarding procedures, liaising with Software Development, ITD, and Facility Management to create accounts and arrange office setups.
  • Arrange travel itineraries, flight and hotel bookings for new recruits, visitors, guests, and university events.
  • Prepare welcome announcement templates for new hires.
  • Set up new employee files, follow checklists, ensure all documents are available, and validate them, following up on missing documents.
  • Oversee insurance requirements, including additions and deletions, and follow up with insurance providers for claims and reimbursements.
  • Conduct regular HR files audits, report missing documents, and follow up with relevant staff.
  • Prepare reports for CHEDS and other management reports, including statistical and analytical data.
  • Organize employee-related activities such as Admin Day, Faculty Day, and staff celebrations.
  • Provide employee services like issuing letters, calculating leave, and addressing HR-related inquiries.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate with training providers, follow up on completion, and maintain reports.
  • Follow up on performance evaluations, probation reports, and issuance of confirmation letters.
  • Benchmark HR policies and procedures, update and amend as needed.
  • Verify leave applications and balances for faculty and staff.
  • Ensure all staff records are updated in HRIS, shared folders, and physical files.
  • Coordinate staff discounts and benefits with external companies.
  • Maintain records for suppliers such as travel agents and hotels.
  • Assist Payroll with required reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all records.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned.

Location: American University in the Emirates (AUE), Dubai International Academic City
Salary: 8,000 AED per month (based on experience)
