The Key Objectives for This Role

Provides leadership and direction for the HSE department, hiring and training qualified personnel, engaging project staff, and improving work processes. Ensures compliance with HSE management systems, safety policies, and regulations through supervision of procedures and safety plans.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee HSSE management systems aligned with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international HSSE regulations, industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001), and client expectations.
  • Lead risk management, hazard identification, and mitigation efforts.
  • Conduct HSSE training, awareness programs, and develop competencies among project personnel.
  • Perform regular audits, inspections, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong HSSE culture through engagement, coaching, and communication.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and subcontractors for HSSE compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Extensive experience managing HSSE in large-scale onshore gas or oil & gas EPCM projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HSSE legislation, standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001), and best practices.
  • Proven leadership skills, stakeholder influence, and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Experience with emergency response, environmental impact assessment, and security risk management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
