Purpose of the Job
The HSE Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental protocols across automotive workshops, warehouses, agricultural sites, and related facilities. The role ensures compliance with safety regulations and promotes a safe and healthy working environment by conducting regular site inspections, identifying hazards, supporting incident investigations, and driving continuous safety improvements.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct daily inspections of workshops, warehouses, and agricultural sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in investigating safety incidents and accidents, documenting findings, and supporting corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the planning and execution of emergency drills and safety training for staff.
- Promote the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and provide guidance on safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, including accident reports, safety inspection logs, and training documentation.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety measures and recommend improvements as needed.
- Liaise with site managers and staff to communicate HSE policies and ensure adherence to internal and regulatory safety requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues and implement mitigation strategies.
- Participate in the development and review of HSE policies, procedures, and standards to ensure they are up to date and effective.
- Provide support during internal and external HSE audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and timely resolution of findings.
- Deliver HSE awareness sessions and training programs to enhance staff knowledge and engagement on safety practices.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as regulatory authorities and emergency services, as needed for compliance and incident response.
- Promote a safety culture by encouraging reporting of near-misses, unsafe conditions, and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper waste management and environmental practices are followed in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing regular HSE performance reports and management dashboards for senior leadership review.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification, with NEBOSH preferred.
Experience
- 2 to 4 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably within the automotive, warehouse, or agricultural sectors.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with UAE HSE regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and emergency response planning.
- Understanding of safety protocols relevant to automotive workshops, warehouses, and agricultural environments.
