Job summary

Sigma Earth in the United Arab Emirates seeks a seasoned HSE Engineer to support infrastructure projects, ensure HSEQ compliance, monitor site safety, review contractor plans, and drive continuous improvement. You will coordinate inspections, audits, emergency drills, and reporting to protect people, assets, and the environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, NEBOSH IG, and at least 5 years of relevant project experience, with strong communication skills and proficiency

Qualifications

  • Educational background as stated: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • HSE certification NEBOSH International General Certificate is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of infrastructure project experience, preferably pumping stations/storage tanks.

Responsibilities

  • HSEQ compliance: Support the project in complying with HSEQ requirements to protect people, assets, and the environment.
  • Site monitoring: Monitor health, safety, and environmental controls at the project site.
  • Contractor document review: Review contractors’ HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Inspections and audits: Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits and close corrective actions.
  • Emergency preparedness: Develop, coordinate, and test emergency response plans and drills.
  • Incident follow-up: Review contractor investigations and ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Technical HSE support: Provide practical HSE guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Safety engagement: Conduct HSE meetings and toolbox talks to raise awareness.
  • Regulatory coordination: Liaise with authorities to maintain compliance.
  • HSE reporting: Prepare monthly HSE reports with KPIs and incidents.
  • Safety culture: Promote strong safety culture through leadership and engagement.
  • Environmental monitoring: Monitor environmental aspects for compliance.
  • Training support: Help deliver HSE training to employees and contractors.
  • Performance analysis: Track HSE trends and suggest improvements.
  • Software proficiency: Use MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio for docs and reports.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly with project teams.

Responsibilities
  • HSEQ compliance: Support the project in complying with WSP’s HSEQ Management System and the client’s HSEQ requirements to protect people, assets, and the environment.
  • Site monitoring: Monitor and assess the implementation of health, safety, and environmental controls at the project site in line with legal, client, and company standards.
  • Contractor document review: Review and approve contractors’ HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements before work begins, ensuring they meet legal and client requirements.
  • Inspections and audits: Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits, document findings, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are properly implemented and closed.
  • Emergency preparedness: Develop, coordinate, and test emergency response plans, ensuring drills are carried out as scheduled and in line with project and legal requirements.
  • Incident follow-up: Review contractor incident investigations, verify root cause analysis, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed to avoid recurrence.
  • Technical HSE support: Provide practical HSE guidance to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to improve safety performance.
  • Safety engagement: Conduct HSE meetings, toolbox talks, and workshops to build awareness and encourage active safety participation.
  • Regulatory coordination: Assist in liaising with regulatory and enforcement authorities to maintain compliance with applicable requirements.
  • HSE reporting: Prepare detailed monthly HSE reports covering KPIs, incidents, observations, and safety initiatives.
  • Safety culture: Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, proactive risk management, and engagement with site personnel.
  • Environmental monitoring: Monitor environmental aspects and impacts to ensure compliance with sustainability and environmental management requirements.
  • Training support: Assist in developing and delivering HSE training for employees, supervisors, and contractors to strengthen competence and awareness.
  • Performance analysis: Track HSE performance trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Software proficiency: Use Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, for documentation, reporting, and presentations.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly and influence stakeholders effectively across project teams.
  • Language: Demonstrate fluency in English.
Qualifications
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • HSE certification: Relevant health and safety qualifications, with at least NEBOSH International General Certificate.
  • Project experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working on infrastructure projects, preferably involving pumping stations and storage tanks.
