Job summary
A leading consultancy firm in Sharjah is seeking a professional to oversee HSE activities, ensuring compliance and safety across operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in health and safety regulations, skills in risk management, and the ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages. This role offers a dynamic work environment with responsibilities including training, emergency preparedness, and continuous monitoring of safety measures.
Qualifications
- Experience in health and safety regulations, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Strong communication skills in multiple languages, such as Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, and Tagalog.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 45001, or similar.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the company's HSE activities.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments for various operations.
- Organize fire drills, spill response drills, and evacuation simulations.
- Leadership & Governance
- Lead and coordinate the companys HSE activities.
- Serve as the focal point for health and safety compliance and initiatives.
- Support and coordinate with the Safety Committee and assign safety champions across departments.
- Conduct regular HSE meetings and toolbox talks.
- Policy Implementation
- Develop and update HSE policies and procedures aligned with ISO 45001.
- Create multilingual Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety instructions.
- Ensure visual and language-appropriate safety messaging is displayed across work areas.
- Risk Management
- Maintain and update the site-specific risk register.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments for lifting operations, rubber fender handling, warehouse tasks, etc.
- Propose and enforce control measures to reduce risks and prevent incidents.
- Training & Communication
- Conduct safety induction for all new hires, visitors, and contractors.
- Schedule and deliver monthly toolbox talks in multiple languages (Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog, etc.).
- Organize quarterly refresher courses and scenario-based safety drills.
- Use video-based and pictogram-rich training tools for improved understanding.
- Equipment and Facility Safety
- Schedule and document periodic inspection, tagging, and load testing of lifting and rigging equipment.
- Ensure safe layout and color-coded zoning in warehouses and rope handling areas.
- Maintain safe movement and storage of pneumatic rubber fenders and heavy materials.
- PPE Management
- Enforce mandatory PPE compliance (gloves, helmets, reflective vests, safety shoes, etc.).
- Maintain PPE inventory logs and replacement schedules.
- Perform regular spot-checks to ensure compliance.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Organize fire drills, spill response drills, and evacuation simulations every 6 months.
- Maintain first aid stations and coordinate first aider training.
- Ensure all emergency signage is clear and multilingual.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct and document monthly safety audits and inspections.
- Establish and manage near-miss and incident reporting mechanisms.
- Track and report key safety KPIs (LTIFR, incident rate, training compliance) to management.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend corrective actions.
