Job Overview:

The HSE Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining the health, safety, and environmental standards across the organization. This position involves overseeing the implementation of safety protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving a culture of safety and environmental awareness. Working closely with the HSE Manager, the officer will focus on continuously improving safety practices, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring all operations comply with established safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health and Safety Management:
    1. Assist the HSE Manager in developing and enforcing HSE policies and procedures.
    2. Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections.
    3. Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
    4. Provide training and awareness sessions to ensure staff adherence to safety standards.
    5. Manage contractor’s activities and Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout Tagout (LOTO) systems etc. to ensure safety compliance.
  2. Incident and Risk Management:
    1. Investigate incidents and near misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
    2. Support the HSE Manager in improving safety systems based on risk assessments and incident trends.
  3. Emergency Preparedness:
    1. Collaborate on developing and reviewing emergency response plans and procedures.
    2. Conduct emergency drills, ensuring all employees are prepared for potential hazards.
    3. Ensure fire/safety equipment is maintained and fully operational.
  4. Compliance and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
    2. Assist in the preparation of reports for internal audits, regulatory agency permits, approvals or licenses, and management.
    3. Ensure the company complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  5. Collaboration and Support:
    1. Work closely with operations, maintenance teams and other relevant stakeholders to improve safety performance.
    2. Engage with staff at all levels to promote safety and environmental awareness.
    3. Stay updated on best practices and industry standards to continuously improve the HSE program.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. NEBOSH IGC certification in Occupational Health and Safety is mandatory. IOSH Managing Safely. First Aid/Fire Safety certifications. ISO 45001 & 14001 certifications or strong knowledge is desirable. Additional certifications in health, safety, or environmental management are a plus. 3-5 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role, preferably in a manufacturing, service, or technology-driven environment. Experience in hazard identification, risk assessments, safety audits, and training delivery. Experience with report writing such as detailed safety reports, tracking incidents, near misses, safety/legal compliance audits, and providing documentation for regulatory agencies.

Skills:

Fluency in English & Hindi; additional languages are a plus. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Good to have knowledge of tools such as Notion, Asana, Slack, or similar platforms for collaboration and task management.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to various operational environments, including possible exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals. Occasional travel may be required for site inspections or meetings. The role may require shift work, including night shifts, to ensure continuous HSE oversight.
