Role Context The HSE Inspector will provide frontline oversight of health, safety, environmental, and occupational hygiene requirements across operational and project environments. The position requires continuous observation of workplace practices, systematic inspections, accurate hazard reporting, and immediate communication when conditions could expose personnel, assets, or operations to unacceptable risk. The role also supports incident investigation, PPE compliance, HSE awareness, inspection documentation, equipment calibration, and implementation of safety programs. Effective performance helps reduce unsafe conditions, strengthens regulatory compliance, improves workforce awareness, and supports reliable operations across complex industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct HSE inspections across assigned plants, projects, operational areas, processes, equipment, and work locations.
  • Verify compliance with company HSE standards, approved policies, procedures, controls, and operating guidelines.
  • Observe work practices and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential environmental or occupational health exposures.
  • Assess chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and other workplace hazards.
  • Document identified risks and communicate findings promptly to the relevant operational or HSE teams.
  • Follow assigned daily and shift inspection schedules to maintain adequate coverage of operational activities.
  • Select appropriate inspection methods, tools, and techniques according to the type of activity being assessed.
  • Carry out inspections involving operational safety, environmental conditions, machinery, gas testing, process activities, and downtime requirements.
  • Investigate suspicious non-conformities, hazards, observations, and safety-related deviations.
  • Escalate significant risks immediately so preventive action can be taken before incidents occur.
  • Record incident information including timing, activity, process references, codes, observations, and supporting details.
  • Participate in formal incident investigations when assigned by management.
  • Provide inspection observations and relevant field information to support incident analysis.
  • Participate in HSE audits and provide evidence relating to inspected activities and locations.
  • Verify that operational processes, equipment, materials, and work activities comply with applicable HSE requirements.
  • Communicate updated HSE procedures, standards, and safety information to relevant personnel.
  • Support implementation of Safety, Environment, Occupational Health, and Industrial Hygiene programs.
  • Participate in HSE studies, initiatives, surveys, and improvement activities.
  • Observe the use and condition of personal protective equipment worn by employees and contractors.
  • Advise personnel regarding correct PPE selection, condition, and usage where deficiencies are observed.
  • Report inspection findings, observations, risk assessments, and corrective requirements accurately.
  • Maintain HSE logs, registers, inspection records, and other documentation required under the HSE Management System.
  • Promote HSE awareness through regular interaction with site personnel.
  • Participate in safety campaigns, training programs, awareness sessions, and HSE initiatives.
  • Support deployment of safety programs designed to improve workforce knowledge and compliance.
  • Follow equipment and instrument manuals when carrying out HSE testing or inspection activities.
  • Operate inspection instruments correctly to obtain reliable measurements.
  • Perform calibration and routine functional checks of HSE instruments and monitoring equipment.
  • Report equipment faults and request maintenance or repair when inspection instruments are not operating correctly.
  • Maintain assigned HSE tools, PPE, instruments, and consumable supplies in proper working condition.
  • Verify readiness of inspection equipment before field deployment.
  • Coordinate with operating personnel and other stakeholders where corrective actions are required.
  • Follow up reported observations to confirm appropriate corrective measures have been implemented.
Ideal Profile

The position requires a Diploma in a Technical or Scientific discipline. Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in HSE, safety inspection, occupational health, technical operations, or a related industrial occupation. Practical experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, processing, construction, or another high-risk industrial environment will be particularly valuable. The successful candidate should understand hazard identification, workplace inspection, incident reporting, PPE requirements, occupational health risks, environmental controls, and industrial safety practices. Candidates should be comfortable using inspection instruments and following equipment manuals, calibration requirements, and testing procedures. Strong observation skills are essential because the role requires early recognition of hazardous conditions and accurate assessment of potential risk. The position also requires disciplined reporting, clear communication with operational personnel, and the confidence to raise safety concerns without delay.
