Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
  2. Provide technical advice and coordination in line with the project OHS Plan, legislation and standards into work groups as required/directed.
  3. Assist with implementation and monitoring of project ERP (Emergency Response Plan).
  4. Delivery of project safety induction and other identified safety training.
  5. Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  6. Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  7. Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  8. Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
  9. Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  10. Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
  11. Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
  12. Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
  13. Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
  14. Assist in Managing the agenda for the Health & Safety Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
  15. Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
  16. Participate in weekly/monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
  17. Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Desired Candidate Profile
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, construction, occupational safety and health, or related field
  2. NEBOSH International General Certificate
  3. Experience in Road Diversions
  4. Three (5) to five (10) years of previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs & solid infrastructure/roads/bridges/sewerage networks
  5. Solid knowledge of the local legislation and guideline changes
