Assistant Safety Officer – Job Description Location: JAFZA, Dubai Experience: 1–2 years in HSE/HSSE, preferably in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations We are looking for a proactive and responsible Assistant Safety Officer to support the HSE/HSSE team in maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace across our warehouse and logistics operations in JAFZA, Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily HSSE inspections and identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe practices.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, safety signage, and emergency access requirements.
- Monitor forklift operations, loading/unloading activities, container handling, material movement, and general warehouse activities.
- Support the implementation of Risk Assessments (RA), JSA/JHA, SOPs, Method Statements, and Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements.
- Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness activities.
- Report incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and assist in incident investigations.
- Inspect fire safety equipment, emergency exits, first-aid facilities, spill kits, and other safety equipment.
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with company HSSE requirements and approved safety procedures.
- Support emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and workplace emergency preparedness activities.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions and maintain accurate HSSE records and registers.
- Support environmental initiatives, including waste segregation, housekeeping, spill prevention, and proper disposal practices.
- Assist with internal HSSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Immediately report serious hazards, incidents, dangerous occurrences, or significant non-compliance to the HSE Manager.
- Perform any other HSE-related duties assigned by the HSE Manager.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of relevant HSE/HSSE/Safety experience.
- Experience in warehouse, logistics, supply chain, or industrial operations is preferred.
- NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent HSE qualification preferred.
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and hazard identification.
- Good understanding of PPE, fire safety, emergency procedures, manual handling, forklift safety, and warehouse safety practices.
- Good communication, observation, reporting, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a warehouse/logistics environment and conduct regular site inspections.
- Good computer skills and ability to maintain HSE records and reports.
- Candidates with knowledge of UAE HSE requirements will have an advantage.
