Job summary

Aertssen Machinery Services is seeking a proactive QHSE Officer to support the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s QHSE system in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on day-to-day regulatory and policy compliance while promoting a strong safety culture across operations.

Responsibilities include obtaining ISO certifications, supporting audits, conducting JSA/MS reviews, toolbox talks, incident reporting, risk assessments, and ongoing documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 to 6 years of relevant QSHE and Administrative experience.
• Experience in Crane Industry and ADNOC projects is an advantage.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
• In-depth knowledge of Safety Management Systems.
• ISO Lead Auditor certification and First Aid certified.

• Ensure all safety-related permits and documentation are properly maintained.
• Support QHSE policy and procedure implementation and document updates.
• Identify workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments.
• Track QHSE performance data and prepare regular internal reports.
• Assist in emergency preparedness and drills.

The role focuses on ensuring day-to-day compliance with applicable regulations, company policies and industry standards while promoting a strong safety culture across all operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Registration and Certification:

• Apply for, obtain, and maintain third-party certifications (e.g., ISO standards).
• Support audits (internal & external) and ensure compliance with QHSE requirements.
• Maintain records related to certifications and compliance documentation.

Safety and Operational Coordination:

• Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Method Statements (MS) in coordination with operations teams.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks for operators at the yard and site to ensure awareness of safety protocols and procedures.
• Monitor daily HSE compliance at yard and project sites.

Incident Reporting and Documentation:

• Report and document near misses, incidents, and accidents accurately and promptly.
• Assist in incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure all safety-related permits and documentation are properly maintained.

Policies and Procedures:

• Support the implementation of QHSE policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Assist in updating documents to align with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Identify workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments.
• Support the implementation of control measures to minimize risks.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and audits.

Training and Education:

• Deliver QHSE induction and awareness training to employees.
• Assist in organizing training sessions related to safety, quality, and environmental practices.
• Promote safe work practices among employees and contractors.

Monitoring and Reporting:

• Track and record QHSE performance data (incidents, near misses, inspections, etc.).
• Prepare regular reports for internal review.

Compliance Management:

• Ensure operations comply with local health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
• Stay updated with relevant legal and industry requirements.
• Support the implementation of emergency response plans.
• Participate in conducting emergency drills and ensure readiness at sites.
• Assist in identifying areas for QHSE improvement.
• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions.

Supplier and Contractor Management:

• Monitor contractor compliance with QHSE standards on-site.
• Report non-conformities and support corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
