Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate horticulturist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant science, gardening, and landscape design, and will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining a variety of plants, flowers, and landscapes.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement horticultural plans for gardens, parks, and landscapes.
2. Conduct soil tests and analyze plant health to determine necessary care and treatments.
3. Propagate and cultivate plants, including seeds, seedlings, and cuttings.
4. Monitor plant growth and health, identifying and managing pests and diseases.
5. Design and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal plant care.
6. Collaborate with landscape architects and other professionals to create aesthetically pleasing environments.
7. Educate staff and the community about horticultural practices and plant care.
8. Keep accurate records of plant growth, treatments, and maintenance activities.

Maintenance Planning And Execution:

1. Ability to prepare and execute maintenance schedules and plans for softscape.
2. Capable of preparing weekly, monthly, incident, and condition survey reports on softscape.

Required Managerial & Leadership Skills:

1. Good interpersonal skills.
2. Meet with clients on a regular basis to ensure work is carried out.
3. Proven ability to perform in a site supervision role.
4. Must be knowledgeable of current landscape practices and how to best implement it on the project.
5. Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
6. Monitor routine maintenance and progress on reported deficiencies and ensure that maintenance is of good standard that ensures the viability and continued success of the installation and that issues are reported and addressed.
7. Resource management (manpower and materials).
8. Management of suppliers of materials for timely delivery.
9. Treat client’s environment as if it were our own.
10. Exceed client expectations to earn loyalty, trust, and referrals.
11. Control and manage manpower, machinery, and material to achieve optimum efficiency.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Botany, Agronomy, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Strong knowledge of plant biology, soil science, and pest management.
3. Experience in landscape design and maintenance.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
5. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
6. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
7. Minimum 2-4 years of landscape maintenance experience (soft & hard landscaping and irrigation & water feature systems) is a must.

Preferred Skills:

1. Familiarity with sustainable gardening practices.
2. Experience with greenhouse management and plant propagation techniques.
3. Proficiency in using horticultural software and tools.
