• Functional English; Spanish/Argentinian Portuguese speakers valued.
• Equine first aid certification or grooming qualifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Daily grooming, bathing, plaiting, and tack cleaning for high-value horses.
• Monitor health, appetite, and behavior; report concerns to Head Groom or Vet.
• Stable management including mucking, bedding, feeding, and water provision.
• Assist with lunging, handling during vet/farrier visits, and training support.
• Tack and equipment maintenance; ensure safe fit and storage.
• Polo-specific duties including leg wrapping, post-match recovery, and cooling.

Job description

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Professional Grooms to join the equine care team at a premier equestrian and polo facility in Dubai. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-performance polo ponies and elite sport horses in a world-class environment that hosts international tournaments and private training programs year-round.

You will be responsible for the daily welfare, grooming, and presentation of valuable equine athletes, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care consistent with top-tier equestrian operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Equine Care: Perform thorough grooming, bathing, plaiting/braiding, and tack cleaning; monitor each horse’s health, appetite, and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Head Groom or Veterinarian immediately.
• Stable Management: Maintain immaculate stables, including mucking out, bedding management, feed preparation, and water provision according to individualized dietary plans.
• Exercise & Handling: Assist with lunging, hand-walking, and safe handling during veterinary/farrier visits; support riders during training sessions and tournament preparations.
• Tack & Equipment Maintenance: Clean, condition, and repair saddles, bridles, boots, and protective gear; ensure all equipment is safe, correctly fitted, and stored properly.
• Polo-Specific Duties: Prepare ponies for chukkas, manage leg wrapping/bandaging, and assist with post-match recovery protocols including cooling down, icing, and injury checks.
• Facility Upkeep: Support general yard maintenance, paddock care, and biosecurity protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for horses and staff.

Candidate Profile

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional grooming experience in polo, show jumping, dressage, or racing; prior experience with high-value sport horses is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in plaiting/braiding, bandaging, clipping, and equine first aid; knowledgeable about equine nutrition, anatomy, and common health issues.
• Physical Fitness: Excellent stamina and strength; able to lift heavy bales, stand for long periods, and work outdoors in Dubai’s climate while maintaining composure around spirited horses.
• Reliability & Discipline: Punctual, detail-oriented, and committed to early morning/evening shifts; demonstrates patience, calmness, and respect when handling sensitive animals.
• Language Skills: Functional English required for safety communication and following detailed instructions; Spanish/Argentinian Portuguese speakers are highly valued given the polo industry context.
• Certifications: Equine first aid certification or recognized grooming qualifications (e.g., BHS, Pony Club) are advantageous but not mandatory if practical experience is strong.
