Role Context The Homeroom Teacher will take responsibility for creating a supportive classroom where students can develop academically, socially, and personally. The role requires thoughtful lesson planning, effective assessment, positive behaviour management, and regular communication with parents to ensure every learner receives appropriate challenge and support. Working as part of a collaborative teaching team, the teacher will adapt curriculum delivery to different ability levels, use assessment evidence to guide future planning, and contribute actively to school activities beyond the classroom. The position also involves working with specialist professionals when students require additional educational, developmental, or wellbeing support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that enable students to make strong academic progress.
  • Adapt classroom activities and learning materials to meet the needs of students across different ability levels.
  • Organize classroom resources and displays to create an inviting and purposeful learning environment.
  • Work with fellow teachers to coordinate curriculum planning, assessment, resources, and learning priorities.
  • Motivate pupils through imaginative teaching approaches that encourage curiosity, confidence, and independence.
  • Observe student learning and assess progress in accordance with school assessment procedures.
  • Use Target Tracker and other approved systems to record and monitor student development.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify learning gaps and adjust future lessons, interventions, and classroom provision.
  • Take responsibility for the academic progress and wellbeing of the assigned class.
  • Provide parents and carers with clear information about student progress during conferences and scheduled meetings.
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding achievement, behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing where appropriate.
  • Follow the school 's behaviour management policy consistently and fairly.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate classroom authority.
  • Set high expectations for behaviour, participation, self-control, and independent learning.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating the attitudes, conduct, and values expected within the school.
  • Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff and learning support professionals where additional assistance is required.
  • Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals when appropriate.
  • Embed the school 's Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout classroom practice.
  • Participate in curriculum action groups and contribute to planning, assessment, resources, and related school events.
  • Support school outings, activities, celebrations, and events that may occasionally take place outside regular school hours.
  • Use CPOMS and other approved school systems to communicate relevant information about student wellbeing and achievements.
  • Deliver a weekly extracurricular activity during each term.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life, culture, and educational ethos of the school.
