Role Context

The Primary Teacher will help establish strong foundations for learning by combining effective curriculum delivery with careful analysis of student progress. A central priority is identifying where learners are falling behind and translating assessment evidence into practical teaching strategies that close gaps without limiting opportunities for higher‑achieving students. The role also carries wider responsibility for curriculum quality, collaborative planning, inclusive provision, enrichment, resource utilization, and continuous improvement. Previous leadership exposure will be valuable when contributing to school development priorities and supporting consistently high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging primary lessons securely aligned with the English National Curriculum.
  • Translate curriculum standards into clear learning objectives, purposeful activities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to policies and teaching practices that reflect the school 's vision and expectations for academic achievement.
  • Develop short, medium, and long-term plans that support curriculum development and sustained student progress.
  • Analyze assessment information to identify underachievement and specific gaps in learning.
  • Design targeted action plans and classroom interventions for students requiring additional support.
  • Monitor the impact of interventions and adjust teaching strategies according to evidence of progress.
  • Contribute relevant performance information to school self‑evaluation and improvement planning.
  • Develop and regularly review schemes of work to maintain appropriate curriculum depth and progression.
  • Ensure teaching plans provide suitable opportunities for SEN, People of Determination, gifted and talented, and EAL learners.
  • Maintain continuity in learning so knowledge and skills develop systematically across the curriculum.
  • Provide suitable extension and challenge for high-ability students.
  • Establish ambitious expectations for achievement, behavior, participation, and quality of work.
  • Evaluate classroom teaching critically and use findings to strengthen future delivery.
  • Share effective instructional approaches with colleagues and contribute constructively to collaborative planning.
  • Help maintain consistency in curriculum expectations and teaching standards across relevant areas.
  • Participate in enrichment activities that broaden students ' academic and personal development.
  • Contribute to additional academic support and intervention sessions where required.
  • Use teaching resources efficiently and help ensure materials are deployed according to curriculum priorities.
  • Support responsible management of departmental resources and allocated expenditure where assigned.
  • Create stimulating learning spaces that encourage independence, curiosity, participation, and purposeful study.
  • Contribute leadership experience to curriculum initiatives, improvement projects, or team responsibilities when required.
  • Participate in performance management processes in accordance with school procedures.

Ideal Profile

Applicants should hold a bachelor 's degree in a relevant subject together with a PGCE or another recognized teaching qualification. At least three years of teaching experience is required, including practical experience delivering the UK curriculum. Candidates must demonstrate secure knowledge of the English National Curriculum and evidence of using effective strategies to improve standards and accelerate student progress. Experience analyzing attainment data, identifying learning gaps, and implementing targeted interventions will be particularly important. The school is also seeking candidates who can demonstrate leadership experience at different levels and contribute effectively within collaborative teams.
