Job description

Structural Fitter
We are seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team and take on the responsibility of assembling, installing, and repairing structural components in various industries such as construction, shipbuilding, aerospace, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints, material preparation and fabrication, assembly and installation, welding and bolting operations, quality control and inspection, safety compliance, and repair and maintenance.

The candidate should also possess technical skills in welding, cutting, and metalworking techniques, proficiency in blueprint reading, mathematical skills, physical stamina, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a strong awareness of safety regulations.

Job Roles & Responsibilities
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical diagrams.
  • Measuring and marking out materials according to specifications.
  • Material preparation and fabrication including cutting, shaping, and assembling metal or other structural materials using hand and power tools.
  • Aligning, positioning, and securing structural parts using bolts, welding, or riveting.
  • Using welding techniques (MIG, TIG, or stick welding) for joining materials and securing parts using fasteners like bolts and rivets.
  • Checking alignments, dimensions, and weld quality to meet safety standards and making adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Following workplace safety protocols and guidelines (OSHA, PPE usage) and operating heavy machinery safely.
  • Dismantling and repairing faulty structures or components and conducting routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
Requirements
  • More than 4 years of experience as a Structural Fabricator.
  • Proficiency in welding, cutting, and metalworking techniques.
  • Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of measurements and calculations.
  • Capability of lifting heavy materials and working in physically demanding environments.
  • Ensuring precision in measurements and structural integrity.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and protective measures.
