Job description

Valiant is seeking skilled Linguists to provide interpretation, transcription, and translation services to support ongoing and new U.S. operations and mission requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation of Hebrew into English.
  • Translate various syntax and expressions, including colloquial and slang phrases, from English to Hebrew and vice versa.
  • Work and travel in austere environments.
  • Provide cultural and ethnic context and significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents.
  • Scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents accurately.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Hebrew and English speaking and writing, Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR); native proficiency preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Hebrew culture with previous regional experience; native familiarity preferred.
  • Experience interpreting and translating Hebrew into English.
  • Ability to understand speech in standard dialect and vocabulary with minimal paraphrasing or explanation.
  • Familiarity with local culture and customs; ability to operate within the local populace.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Security Clearance: Secret.

Additional requirements:

  • Possession of the required Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Medical and dental examinations to certify fitness for duty, including immunizations as per the Area of Operation.
  • Sufficient unaided hearing to perform duties safely; testing may be required.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet short deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • No medical restrictions that impair duty performance or PPE use.
  • Capability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proper lifting techniques and PPE use for all material handling tasks.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, crawl, and climb as needed, using proper techniques and PPE.
