Job description

Amazon is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join our team in Abu Dhabi / Dubai. As we continue to grow, maintaining a safe, motivated, and empowered workforce is our priority. In this role, reporting to the Country WHS Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Leading site risk assessments for current and new activities.
  2. Establishing and managing site WHS training matrices.
  3. Implementing site-specific WHS standards, guidelines, objectives, and programs.
  4. Promoting a safety culture through daily WHS content during shift briefings and standups.
  5. Conducting regular site safety audits to identify and address non-compliance issues, working with the Operations team to implement corrective actions.
  6. Performing daily and weekly WHS audits, including GEMBA walks, area inspections, and vehicle and driver assessments.
  7. Handling incidents and occupational injuries, guiding incident investigations, and communicating lessons learned.
  8. Supporting the Ops team with Gensuite follow-ups, CAPA creation, and ensuring record-keeping aligns with global standards and local regulations.
  9. Managing PPE inventory and coordinating procurement.
  10. Ensuring completion of fire fighting and first aid training.
  11. Conducting daily Trailer Dock Release (TDR) inspections and communications.
  12. Monitoring and supporting the Daily Action Tracking System (ATS).
  13. Participating in site management safety walks and providing safety insights to management.
  14. Reporting daily updates on objectives, incidents, and safety actions to the Country WHS Manager.
  15. Preparing agendas and minutes for WHS committee meetings, and managing permits to work.
  16. Leading WHS-related procurement activities.
  17. Developing risk assessments and emergency response plans.
  18. Organizing emergency drills, medi-evac drills, and maintaining records.
  19. Monitoring Heat Index levels and supporting related safety measures.
  20. Providing support for site-specific requests and unplanned events.
  21. Possessing on-the-road experience and proficiency with computers and data analysis.
