Amazon is looking for a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to join the team. As we continue to grow year over year, we need to work as smart as we can to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated, and empowered. To help us achieve this, we are seeking a driven WHS Officer. With your bias for action, we need you to step in and help drive health and safety across our delivery stations in Abu Dhabi / Dubai.
Responsibilities:
- Lead site risk assessments for current and new activities.
- Establish site WHS training matrix.
- Lead implementation of site-specific WHS standards and guidelines.
- Lead implementation of site WHS objectives and programs.
- Promote a safe culture among employees by providing daily WHS content during shift briefings/standup meetings.
- Perform frequent site safety audits to identify non-compliance equipment and processes; work with operations to implement solutions.
- Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits such as GEMBA walks, area audits, vehicle and driver inspections.
- Attend to incidents and occupational injury cases on site.
- Guide and assist area managers on incident investigations, Gensuite write-ups, and lessons learned communication.
- Assist operations in Gensuite follow-up and CAPA creation, ensuring recordkeeping practices align with global WHS standards and local regulations.
- Manage PPE inventory and coordinate procurement.
- Ensure completion of fire fighting and first aid training.
- Complete daily Trailer Dock Release (TDR) inspections and communications.
- Monitor daily Action Tracking System closeouts and support.
- Participate in site management safety walks, providing insights into unsafe acts and conditions.
- Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objectives, incidents, and actions.
- Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas and MOM write-ups.
- Review and sign off on permits to work in collaboration with operational and facilities teams.
- Lead WHS-related procurement and follow-up.
- Prepare risk assessments and emergency response plans.
- Manage emergency drills, including medevac drills, and maintain records.
- Monitor Heat Index and support related activities.
- Support site-specific requests and unplanned events.
- Possess on-the-road experience.
- Be proficient with computers and data analysis.
- Hold NEBOSH IGC certification.
- Have experience in the WHS field.
- Possess good communication skills in English.
- Hold a valid UAE driving license and own transport.
- Work well within a team environment, driven with a focus on self-development and growth.
- Have strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.
- Adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances.
- Experience analyzing accident data, new processes, and machinery for safety concerns, including hazard analyses.
- Experience in emergency response, with current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or science.
