Job summary

Choithrams is looking for a proactive Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Manager to lead H&S, food safety and welfare at work across Dubai stores, offices and sites. You will implement policies, conduct audits, training and risk assessments, ensuring statutory compliance and reporting.

You will advise on IMS implementation, coordinate with retail, production and logistics, prepare monthly audit summaries, and mentor staff while driving a strong HSE culture and continuous improvement.

Job description

KEY DIMENSIONS AND RELATED JOB RESULTS
  • Ensures the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety including food safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • To ensure HS & food safety audits are functioning as established.
  • To ensure a safe workplace environment for all employees, visitors, contractors at site.
  • Implement the developed health & safety policies, systems of work, procedures, audits and checks. Support the development of new policies and programs
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
  • Conducts health and safety trainings for all employees.
  • Conducts Health & safety Culture sessions for corporate office employees.
  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations and enforce preventative measures
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, risk assessments and working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Implement the graded H & S audits using graded checklist for the organization. Prepare monthly summary summarizing the audit scores.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • To ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Manage and devise the agenda for & distribute minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
  • Schedule audits, inspections for the organization and submit for endorsement from HOD.
  • Provide regular reports to the HOD on relevant HS and food safety including food safety activities.
  • Co-ordinates with all retail stores, production facilities & logistics related to H & S and Food Safety
  • Ensures established HACCP systems are adequately complying in Retail and Supply Chain.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required to support QHSE from time to time.
  • Manages own reporting employees effectively. Mentors and motivate them adequately.
IMS Responsibilities
  • Advise, provide consultancy and guidance to the organisation for IMS implementation and certification
  • The role of QHSE is to ensure that: a) IMS is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the standards. b) IMS processes are delivering their intended outputs. c) Promotion of customer focus throughout the company. d) Integrity of the IMS is maintained when changes to the IMS are planned and implemented.
  • Report on the performance of the IMS for review and as a basis for continual improvement.
  • Perform the role of Project Team which has the authority to ensure access rights in the IMS, for individuals, are in-line with their levels of authority and responsibility in the organisation.
  • Monitor, communicate and incorporate changes in the legal and other requirements in the IMS.
  • Communicate amendments to the IMS.
  • Advise and provide guidance to ensure compliance to the IMS is maintained.
  • Provide guidance in developing action plans and conducting management system reviews
  • Ensure that audits and inspections are conducted in accordance with the schedule
  • Provide and arrange for ongoing training and coaching to personnel with respect to IMS matters
  • Coordinate and conduct IMS meetings including the Management Review
  • Publish and control all IMS documents
  • Actively promotes and participates in IMS initiatives
  • Coordinate and administer arrangements with the certification agency
  • To enhance IMS awareness among stakeholders for strengthening QHSE culture in the organisation.
SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITY

  • Taking reasonable care of own safety, the safety of coworkers, customers, vendors and visitors.
  • Learning to work safely and adhering in all circumstances to company safety rules and requirements.
  • Wearing all required personal protective equipment.
  • Reporting all accidents, injuries, illnesses, any near misses, unsafe actions and conditions which causes or may cause an injury or damage to supervisor immediately.
  • Avoiding acts or omissions which may cause unsafe situations.
  • Attending training and awareness sessions provided by the company to carry out tasks competently and safely.
  • Contributing to promote safety culture in the workplace.
  • Being an advocate for health and safety by aligning new hires and vendors on safe work practices and lead by example.

  • Engage in environmentally conscious practices such as waste segregation, energy & water conservation, while collaborating on initiatives that advance our sustainability goals.
  • Participate in training or workshops on sustainability practices and stay informed about environmental issues.
  • Report any practices, environmental hazards or violations within the organization that may adversely affect the environment.
  • Support and promote a culture of sustainability by educating new hires, subcontractors and visitors on the company’s environment policy and lead by example.
