Health and Safety Officer

The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies across worksites to ensure compliance with UAE labor laws and local authority regulations. This role involves conducting risk assessments, safety audits, training sessions, and incident investigations while promoting a proactive safety culture. The officer will work closely with operations, HR, and facility teams to create a secure and compliant workplace environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Developing and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with UAE legal requirements and international standards.
2. Conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
3. Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, and preparing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis and recommendations.
4. Delivering HSE training sessions and toolbox talks to employees and contractors to ensure awareness and compliance.
5. Monitoring use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper signage and safety measures are in place.
6. Maintaining up-to-date HSE documentation and ensuring alignment with Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi OSHAD, and other relevant authorities.
7. Coordinating emergency drills and safety response plans for fire, chemical, and other hazards.
8. Supporting the certification process for ISO 45001 and similar standards, ensuring ongoing compliance.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of HSE experience in construction, manufacturing, or facilities management within the UAE.
3. NEBOSH IGC or equivalent HSE certification is mandatory.
4. Strong knowledge of UAE labor laws, local HSE regulations, and OSHAD/SRA guidelines.
5. Excellent observational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
7. Ability to conduct fieldwork in industrial, construction, or high-risk environments.
8. Valid UAE driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
