What you'll be doing:

The role holder is responsible for implementing Health and Safety best practices across the Group, ensuring GMG complies with all current health and safety legislations. Responsibilities include executing operational tasks such as facility visits, conducting inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments, training sessions, emergency drills, coordinating with vendors and government agencies, and maintaining documentation and reports.

Job Description:

  • Conduct health and safety inspections at designated sites, prepare reports, and provide management with action plans. Maintain a tracker for open action items and follow up to ensure compliance.
  • Review contractor risk assessments and permit-to-work applications, providing feedback to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Conduct risk assessments for site operations and activities, generating reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Investigate near misses and accidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Organize periodic health and safety committee meetings with Business Units to review and improve performance.
  • Prepare and submit monthly health and safety reports detailing activities, inspections, training, and incident investigations.
  • Plan and conduct emergency response drills as per schedule.
  • Contribute to the development of health and safety strategies and policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive health and safety program to prevent workplace injuries and property damage.
  • Coordinate with government agencies to stay updated on legislative requirements and develop a legal register for compliance tracking.
  • Stay informed about evolving regulations and communicate updates across departments.
  • Collect and analyze health and safety performance data, generating reports for review and continuous improvement.
  • Identify training needs and organize targeted health and safety training sessions.
  • Support Business Units during emergencies and assist in crisis management in coordination with authorities.
  • Act as liaison with regulatory authorities during site visits and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and prepare sites for external audits by third-party bodies or clients.

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, engineering, or a related/equivalent field
Experience:
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a health and safety department within a large, diversified organization
Certifications:
  • NEBOSH IGC Certification, OSHA Certification, First Aider Certification, Fire Marshal Certification, ISO 45001 Auditor Certification
