Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, the Head Waiter/ess is responsible to oversee the in-room dining experience and ensure every guest receives exceptional service in the privacy and comfort of their room. The role involves managing the delivery of food and beverages, coordinating with kitchen and housekeeping staff and maintaining standards set. Head Waiter/ess reports to F&B Supervisor.

As a Head Waiter/ess, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide exceptional, personalized in-room dining service with professionalism, anticipating and fulfilling guest needs promptly.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and preparation, and communicate special preferences or allergies to relevant teams.
  • Operate the POS system accurately for order processing and billing in line with hotel policies.
  • Understand guest requirements to deliver tailored service and consistently upsell to enhance the experience and increase revenue.
  • Ensure all food and beverage items meet hotel presentation and quality standards.
  • Support other outlets as needed, create memorable WOW moments, and uphold MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs) throughout the guest journey.

As a Head Waiter/ess, we expect from you:

  • High school qualification required; a degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Senior Waiter or Chef de Rang; luxury hotel or high-volume restaurant experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS and cashiering procedures is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office, is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
