Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, the Head Waiter/ess is responsible to deliver a superior dining experience. The role will oversee a designated section of our restaurant, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service and that every detail of their dining experience meets our high standards of luxury and service. Head Waiter/ess reports to F&B Supervisor.

As a Head Waiter/ess, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage a designated section in the Lobby Lounge, delivering warm, personalized service and assisting with special requests.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide tailored recommendations on menu items, beverages, and desserts.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the lounge menu and communicate dietary preferences or allergies to the kitchen and management.
  • Operate the POS system for order processing and billing in line with hotel standards.
  • Consistently upsell offerings, ensure presentation meets hotel standards, and support other outlets when needed.
  • Create memorable WOW moments and ensure guest satisfaction in line with MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQEs).

As a Head Waiter/ess, we expect from you:

  • High school qualification required; a degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Senior Waiter or Chef de Rang; luxury hotel or high-volume restaurant experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS and cashiering procedures is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office, is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
