Job Description

The Head of Treasury Governance and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for supporting the Group Head of Treasury and Capital Markets in achieving the department’s overall growth strategy and vision while ensuring effective governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

This role involves developing and implementing strategic initiatives, enhancing operational frameworks, and strengthening control mechanisms to support business objectives. It ensures that Treasury activities align with organizational goals, risk management frameworks, and market best practices. Additionally, the role acts as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Develop and maintain the Treasury and capital Markets Governance Framework to ensure full compliance with internal policies and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across all Treasury functions
  • Monitor and report on financial and non-financial risks, including risk acceptance, conduct, and front office supervision.
  • Coordinate onboarding requirements and execute related Treasury agreements for clients and counterparties in collaboration with Relationship Managers, Compliance, and Market Risk.
  • Represent Treasury and Global Markets in committees, regulatory discussions, and governance forums

Strategic Planning & Business Management

  • Support the Group head of Treasury and Capital Markets in preparing business plans and strategies.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures , ensuring all Treasury units adhere to governance and compliance standards.
  • Work with Desk Heads to draft, implement, and maintain desk-level procedures and policies.
  • Lead the Product Approval Process , coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for new product implementation or market entry.

Project Management & System Infrastructure

  • Manage Treasury strategic projects, digital transformation initiatives, and system infrastructure upgrades to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of technology solutions within the Treasury and Global Markets
  • Drive automation and process improvements to support Treasury risk management and governance objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Group Head of Treasury and Capital Markets, providing insights on governance, regulatory developments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, IT, Operations).
  • Foster a culture of governance, transparency, and risk awareness across Treasury and Global Markets.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Management

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business management, governance, or markets within a large organization.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale Treasury or Markets-related projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Treasury and Capital Markets processes, including governance and risk frameworks.
  • Experience in managing system infrastructure upgrades, regulatory compliance, and process optimization.

Technical & Leadership Skills

  • Strategic problem-solving with expertise in risk identification and mitigation.
  • Project management and execution skills to drive governance and system transformation initiatives
  • Strong understanding of Treasury systems, risk management tools, and financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced financial environment.
