Job Overview:

To lead and manage all procurement and contract management activities across the mining operations, ensuring cost efficiency, risk mitigation, local content development, and alignment with project timelines. The role is accountable for developing and executing the overall procurement and contracting strategy for capital projects, operational expenditure, and strategic sourcing, while ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Management

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for all categories: equipment, materials, services, and logistics, aligned project phases (construction, commissioning, production).
  • Lead strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and procurement planning to support production continuity and cost optimization.
  • Drive local content initiatives and sustainable procurement aligned with ESG objectives and community engagement plans.
  • Oversee the implementation & optimization of ERP procurement modules and ensure digital procurement best practices.

Contracts Management

  • Lead the negotiation, execution, and management of high-value contracts including EPC/EPCM, supply, construction, mining services, logistics, and consultancy agreements.
  • Provide guidance on the use of standard contract templates (e.g., FIDIC, NEC) and custom contracts, ensuring legal soundness and alignment with project needs.
  • Mitigate contractual risks through proactive claims and variation management, performance monitoring, and enforcement of SLAs and KPIs.
  • Establish robust contract governance frameworks, audit trails, and document control processes.

Team Leadership and Governance

  • Build & lead a high-performing, multicultural procurement team across multiple locations.
  • Mentor team to build capability in sourcing, negotiation, analytics, and supplier engagement.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms in line with international best practices (e.g., ISO 20400, CIPS guidelines).
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, anti-corruption regulations (FCPA, UK Bribery Act), and relevant local procurement laws.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

  • Collaborate closely with operations, legal, finance, ESG, and project management teams.
  • Provide strategic insights and reporting to the executive team on procurement KPIs, risk exposure, and opportunities for value creation.
  • Represent the company in supplier negotiations, tenders, and external audits.
