Job summary

Star International School Al Twar in Dubai is seeking a dynamic Head of Secondary to join in August 2026. The successful candidate will lead the secondary team, uphold high standards, and drive outcomes across teaching, learning, and student wellbeing.

The role requires a qualified teacher with senior leadership experience in a UK curriculum setting, a commitment to safeguarding, and the ability to inspire staff, students and families.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent in a UK curriculum school.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership roles in a secondary or-through-school setting.
• Proven experience raising academic standards and outcomes in external assessments.
• Experience developing secondary curriculums and preparing students for KS5 and exams.
• Experience growing a school including enrolment and retention.
• Ability to lead learning communities and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
• Willingness to go beyond standard expectations to contribute to school success.

Responsibilities

• Directly line manage the Secondary Leadership team.
• Ensure learning and teaching is research-informed and wellbeing aware.
• Develop a culture of community and kindness embraced by all stakeholders.
• Oversee internal and external assessment and tracking of student progress.
• Produce and maintain high-quality secondary reports to parents.
• Monitor standards through reviews, observations and feedback.
• Create and maintain the secondary timetable and option blocks.
• Ensure adequate cover for absent colleagues.
• Lead a high-quality extra-curricular programme with Student Enrichment coordinators.
