Job description

Your Opportunity

The Head of Safety’s (HoS) role is required to investigate all Air Navigation Services (ANS) related incidents at Sharjah Airport and to implement measures to avoid incidents and accidents at Sharjah.

In addition, they are to ensure that a robust Safety Management System is maintained in Sharjah ANS. The overriding goal of the Head of Safety is to engender a safe and just culture at Sharjah ANS and to encourage this approach to safety incidents.

This role will be based in Sharjah Airport.

Key accountabilities

  • To act as the designated ANS Safety Manager for the purposes on National Civil Aviation Regulations;
  • To ensure compliance with the Unit Quality Management System (QMS) with support from the Head of Quality (HoQ);
  • To advise Sharjah DCA, Head of Operations (HoO) and AIS Lead on all safety related issues;
  • To manage the investigation of ATC related incidents and accidents occurring at Sharjah ANS guidelines (Management Manual);
  • To build and maintain a strong Safety Culture and Just Culture amongst Management and staff at Sharjah;
  • To drive the maintenance and development of the Aviation Safety Management Systems and to advise Sharjah DCA on this matter;
  • To review the overall performance of Sharjah, specifically by monitoring the performance of Sharjah in relation to its identified target levels of safety;
  • To communicate with the Sharjah DCA as required in relation to incidents which have occurred at Sharjah;
  • To drive the maintenance and development of the Aviation Safety Management Systems and to advise Sharjah DCA on this matter;
  • To review the overall performance of Sharjah, specifically by monitoring the performance of Sharjah in relation to its identified target levels of safety;
  • To communicate with the Sharjah DCA as required in relation to incidents which have occurred at Sharjah;

Specific requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of UAE GCAA CAR’s, ICAO and Serco Middle East ASAG Standards and Recommended Practices pertaining to the operations and delivery of ATS and Safety Management;
  • Expert Knowledge on Aviation Safety & Quality Management and Investigation.
  • ATC Operational experience do you have at managerial level
  • Experience in the implementation and maintenance of a standards and compliance programme
