This role involves designing and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework across the enterprise, ensuring that the organization's operations and strategic initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Financial Services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework covering operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Develop a Risk Management Policy and formalize governance structures (e.g., Risk Committee) with clearly defined mandates.
- Create risk appetite statements and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
- Map critical processes (remittances, FX trading, WPS, import/export of banknotes, etc.) to identify potential risk exposures.
- Use MS Office (primarily Excel) to maintain an up-to-date risk register, conduct periodic risk assessments, and prioritize high-risk areas.
- Coordinating with department heads and the functional leads to capture emerging risks and aligning mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with business units to develop targeted mitigation plans and strengthen internal controls, including AML and CFT compliance.
- Establish and regularly review SOPs to address process gaps, ensuring robust control mechanisms are in place.
- Oversee implementation of corrective actions and monitor their effectiveness over time.
- Develop Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and maintain regular risk dashboards in Excel or PowerPoint for senior management and the Board.
- Prepare periodic risk reports summarizing key findings, trends, and action items.
- Escalate significant risks or control issues to the Board Risk Committee and executive leadership.
- Promote a risk-aware culture through regular training and awareness sessions.
- Provide guidance and support to functional teams, helping them integrate risk management practices into day-to-day operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Ideally holds one of relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, CPA, CIA,CAMS).
- Minimum of 10 years experience in risk management, ideally in financial services.Proven track record of building or enhancing risk frameworks from the ground up.
- Good exposure to AML/CFT regulations, UAE Central Bank directives, and other relevant compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel for risk registers and dashboards, Word for policy documentation, PowerPoint for reporting).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence C-level and Board members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying control gaps and proposing practical solutions.
