Nipro is seeking a visionary and hands-on Head of R&D to lead innovation in the development of enzymes tailored for industrial applications and animal nutrition. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving cutting-edge enzyme discovery, product development, and cross-functional collaboration to commercialize innovative solutions that align with the company’s strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities :

• Define and execute the R&D roadmap for enzyme innovation in industrial processing and animal feed.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across microbiology, biochemistry, fermentation, and formulation science.
• Stay abreast of global trends and emerging technologies in enzyme research.
• Oversee discovery, screening, and characterization of novel enzymes from microbial and recombinant sources.
• Direct enzyme engineering, stability testing, activity profiling, and compatibility studies with various substrates and formulations.
• Ensure scalability from lab to pilot and commercial production.
• Lead development of feed-grade enzyme solutions targeting digestibility improvement, anti-nutritional factor degradation (e.g., phytates, NSPs), and gut health.
• Collaborate with nutritionists, veterinarians, and feed producers for field trials and performance validation.

Industrial Applications

• Design enzyme solutions for sectors like textile, starch processing, detergents, paper, and biofuel.
• Ensure thermal, pH, and operational compatibility with industrial conditions.

Required Qualifications :

• PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Enzymology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in enzyme R&D, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record in enzyme discovery, fermentation, protein engineering, and feed / industrial formulation.
• Strong understanding of GRAS, cGMP, EFSA, or other regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing R&D pipelines from lab to market.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Attributes :

• Exposure to global feed or enzyme companies.
• Experience in cost optimization, enzyme coating / stabilization, or encapsulation technologies.
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and high-throughput screening platforms.
