Lead Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies, both centralized and decentralized, aligned with the company's overall objectives as well as project-specific goals and timelines.
Supply Chain Management: Manage end-to-end supply chain process and activities, including tendering, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, logistics, and administration.
Strategic Sourcing: Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for raw materials, consumables, construction materials, mining and processing equipment, and services across projects.
Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, suppliers, vendors, and service providers. Secure competitive pricing, favorable terms & conditions, delivery schedules, and reliability.
Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and manage high-value contracts across projects and jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with the company's policies and legal requirements.
Contract Performance: Monitor and manage contractor performance. Manage contract variations, claims, liquidated damages, and contractor performance to protect the company's operational and commercial interests.
Budgeting and Cost Optimization: Develop and manage the procurement budget across projects, ensuring cost efficiencies across the supply chain.
Governance: Implement robust procurement governance structures, including SOPs, policies, and industry best practices across the supply chain.
Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement and supply chain activities.
Technology: Implement digital procurement and supply chain tools to drive transparency and efficiency.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing procurement team across various projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master's degree and relevant professional certifications are preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the mining and metals industry.
Strong understanding of the value chain for various minerals and metals, including exploration, development, construction, production, processing, and closure.
Understanding of African markets with operational knowledge of import/export laws, taxation, customs, and vendor ecosystems.
Proven experience in negotiating high-value contracts and managing supplier relationships in a complex and dynamic environment.
Proficiency in supply chain software and tools, as well as ERP systems.
Willingness to travel across project sites in Africa as needed.
