Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of MRO Operations for one of our clients to lead and manage their maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) division based in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial aviation maintenance, a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, and a proven ability to optimize operations and deliver world-class technical services.
In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of base maintenance, line maintenance, workshops, and support services to ensure safe, efficient, and timely aircraft servicing. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, managing large-scale teams, and ensuring full compliance with GCAA, EASA, FAA, and OEM standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all MRO operations including aircraft maintenance checks, modifications, repair services, and workshop functions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with UAE GCAA, EASA, FAA, and OEM standards and procedures.
- Drive strategic initiatives to improve turnaround time (TAT), manpower efficiency, and technical capabilities.
- Manage cross-functional maintenance teams including engineers, technicians, planners, and QA/QC staff.
- Develop and manage budgets, cost control measures, and resource planning to maximize operational efficiency.
- Establish strong working relationships with airlines, lessors, OEMs, and aviation authorities.
- Ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and certification renewals; lead corrective/preventive actions.
- Oversee workforce training, certification, and competency planning in line with regulatory mandates.
- Identify and pursue third-party maintenance business opportunities to grow MRO revenue streams.
Skills
- Proven leadership in managing large-scale MRO or Engineering departments.
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems (airframe, powerplant, avionics).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of AMOS, TRAX, or similar MRO software systems.
- Familiar with safety management systems (SMS) and quality assurance principles.
- Crisis and contingency planning in high-pressure aviation environments.
- Minimum 15 - 20 years in aviation maintenance, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field. Master’s degree preferred.
- EASA Part-66 / GCAA Aircraft Maintenance License.
- Fluent in English. Arabic is a plus.
- Open to all; preference may be given to candidates with GCC/regional experience.
