Job Description

Due to the continued success of our GEMS Wesgreen International School, Sharjah, we are looking to recruit a Head of Department (HOD) Mathematics Teacher to start in August 2025.

The post holder will lead, manage, and be accountable for the quality of the school’s curriculum provision to promote the fulfillment of the school’s mission.

As a Middle Leader and part of the Middle Leadership Team, the post holder will be expected to:

  • Articulate a vision for the Mathematics Department in the context of the school’s ethos and vision.
  • Lead, manage, coordinate, maintain, develop, monitor, and evaluate the school’s mathematics curriculum provision for the whole school.
  • Contribute to planning, resource management, policy development, and implementation across the school through effective leadership and management of all aspects of the Mathematics Department.
  • Ensure high expectations and standards in all aspects of school life.
  • Support the day-to-day organization and management of the school.
  • Report to the appropriate senior or extended leader and ultimately to the Principal/CEO.
  • Contribute to the school’s Performance Management programme where appropriate.

There are five key aspects to achieve the Key Purpose:

  • Promoting and ensuring student development, progress, and well-being.
  • Leading teaching and learning and managing policy within the Mathematics Department.
  • Leading and managing people and teams.
  • Managing resources.
  • Promoting and representing the Mathematics Department.
