The Head of Maintenance is responsible for leading all aspects of technical maintenance across NEP s production facilities, including Outside Broadcast (OB) units, studio systems, and fixed broadcast infrastructure. This leadership role ensures the availability, performance, and safety of critical technical assets to support live productions across the region. You will oversee a team of engineers and technicians and play a key role in planning maintenance schedules, driving improvements, and managing technical risks.


Role Summary:

The Head of Maintenance is responsible for leading all aspects of technical maintenance across NEP s production facilities, including Outside Broadcast (OB) units, studio systems, and fixed broadcast infrastructure. This leadership role ensures the availability, performance, and safety of critical technical assets to support live productions across the region. You will oversee a team of engineers and technicians and play a key role in planning maintenance schedules, driving improvements, and managing technical risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the maintenance function across all broadcast assets, ensuring operational reliability and performance.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for electrical, electronic, mechanical, and digital systems.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance engineers and technicians, promoting a culture of excellence and safety.

  • Oversee repairs and fault resolution across OB trucks, studios, transmission facilities, and remote equipment.

  • Coordinate maintenance support during live events and ensure rapid incident response protocols are in place.

  • Track equipment lifecycle and plan for upgrades, replacements, and technical investments in collaboration with Engineering and Procurement teams.

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards, health & safety requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Maintain asset registers, service records, and documentation in alignment with NEP s internal policies and ISO standards.

  • Support CAPEX planning and contribute to the technical budgeting process.

  • Liaise with international NEP technical teams and vendors for knowledge sharing, parts procurement, and system updates.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Broadcast Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 7 10+ years experience in a senior engineering or maintenance role in the broadcast/media production industry.

  • Strong technical knowledge of OB vans, video/audio routers, power systems, RF distribution, and fibre transmission.

  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

  • Hands-on experience with test and measurement tools, diagnostics, and fault isolation.

  • Familiar with industry standards (e.g., SMPTE, AES, SDI, IP-based broadcast systems).

  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety practices and electrical safety protocols.

  • Proficiency in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) or asset tracking software.

  • Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus, especially for roles in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.

Preferred Certifications (a plus):
  • Project Management (PMP or equivalent)

  • OSHA / NEBOSH safety training

  • Vendor certifications (e.g., EVS, Grass Valley, Sony, Riedel, etc.)
