Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or an equivalent teacher qualification.
- A master's in a related subject or education is preferred but not necessary.
- 5 Years teaching experience and some leadership experience is desirable.

Job Description :
Aldar Education seeks an outstanding Head of Islamic and Social Studies (Native and Non-Native) at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi for the 2024-2025 academic year. Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum school, mixed gender until Year 8, and girls-only from Year 9 onwards, located in Abu Dhabi. We aim for excellence through high expectations and quality learning opportunities.
Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will oversee a department with an excellent reputation, rated Very Good in inspections. A strong understanding of Islamic and social studies, Emirati culture, and a dedication to advancing educational and cultural goals are essential.
Strategic direction and development :
- Contribute to the school’s vision and strategic direction, participating in Executive Leadership Team meetings when invited.
- Analyze school data to inform policies and SEF writing.
- Develop and implement policies for the Islamic and Social Studies department aligned with the school’s standards.
- Create short-, medium-, and long-term plans for departmental growth using data to identify improvement areas.
- Ensure relevant schemes of work are developed, reviewed, and evaluated for all year groups.
Learning and teaching :
- Create and lead a departmental vision that promotes innovative learning and high-quality outcomes.
- Ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression, including for students with special educational needs.
- Set and uphold standards of achievement and teaching quality.
- Regularly evaluate teaching practices to identify effective methods and areas for improvement.
- Promote Islamic values and UAE culture across the curriculum and school community.
Leading and managing staff :
- Enable effective performance management in line with school policies and MOE directives.
- Build collaborative, supportive, and accountable team relationships.
- Hold regular department meetings focused on standards and student achievement.
Assessment :
- Organize and oversee International Benchmark Assessments.
- Collect and analyze departmental data, presenting findings to the Director of MOE subjects.
- Use data to plan interventions and support student progress.
- Ensure high-quality interventions support all students.
- Lead monitoring, evaluation, and review processes to maintain and improve standards.
Other duties :
- Lead initiatives to enhance Islamic studies proficiency and cultural understanding.
- Organize cultural events like Ramadan celebrations and Iftar.
- Manage staff deployment and departmental budget effectively.
- Create conducive learning environments aligned with school USP.
- Support Emirati students in Arabic literacy for academic and post-secondary success.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal, including covering absences and invigilation.
