Head of Graduate Student Housing and Community Building Liaison

Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI)

• Serve as the primary contributor and lead the implementation of MBZUAI's campus life strategy in collaboration with senior leadership
  and faculty, ensuring alignment with globally recognized best practices in campus life, departmental objectives, and MBZUAI s vision
  to become a pre-eminent global institution that revolutionizes education, drives research innovation, and shapes the global technology
  landscape.
• Lead the development and ongoing review of best practice policies and procedures for campus life.
• Create,
  continuously update, and manage the provision of high-quality graduate student life administrative and support services including services
  relating to onboarding, travel, residency, EIDs, health insurance, accommodation, and financial services.
• Develop and continuously
  update in consultation with Marketing & Communications the graduate student handbook and other informational publications (online and
  print), ensuring students have ready access to information they require to pursue their studies and life confidently and successfully at
  MBZUAI.
• Design, implement, and oversee accessible, responsive procedures for graduate student complaints and suggestions that
  strive to remedy student concerns promptly and equitably, and that demonstrate MBZUAI s respect for student voice.

Events and Programs

• Plan and execute orientation programs for incoming MBZUAI graduate students, with a focus on supporting
  international students in adjusting to life in the UAE.
• Develop and implement cultural events that promote respect for UAE culture
  and the diverse backgrounds of students, fostering a safe, multicultural campus environment.
• Organize on- and off-campus activities
  that support graduate students social growth, personal development, and self-confidence.
• Create initiatives that build a
  sense of community among faculty, staff, students, and the larger MBZUAI research community, promoting academic excellence, collaboration,
  and a strong sense of belonging.
• Develop activities that enhance academic life, including opportunities for students to participate
  in global AI and computer science conferences, lectures, and other academic events.
• Create and share an annual calendar of campus
  life events aligned with the academic year, ensuring consistent programming.
• Promote campus life events in collaboration with
  Marketing & Communications, leveraging social media to engage students and showcase innovative uses of technology.
• Oversee
  event logistics, including venue preparation, materials, catering, and audio-visual requirements in coordination with IT, ensuring smooth
  execution of campus life events.
• Support the activities and operations of the Graduate Student
  Council, acting as chief liaison between the Council and MBZUAI, overseeing assignment of the Council budget, supporting the development of
  Council operating procedures, and overseeing the election of Officers.

Residential Services

• Oversee the
  management of graduate student residences as it impacts the day-to-day living experience ensuring students have a safe and satisfactory
  campus living experience.
• Establish a system of student residential wardens who act as advisers and support people to incoming
  residents, and who are trained to administer physical and mental health first aid.

Student Welfare, Support, and Advice

• Oversee the provision of a high-quality graduate student academic advising and learning support service that provides academic
  skills development for all students, and best practice support for students with disabilities to ensure they have an equal opportunity to
  learn, participate, and achieve at MBZUAI.
• Oversee the provision of a student counseling service providing clinically sound group
  and individual interventions and therapeutic support that is accessible and respectful to all members of MBZUAI s multicultural
  student body.
• Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of a program of initiatives that support and develop student
  physical wellness and mental wellbeing including health information, social media campaigns, workshops, awareness-day events, fitness
  challenges, sporting and relaxation opportunities, and support for spiritual practices.

Monitoring and Continuous
Improvement

• Analyze, assess, and report on the impact and success of campus life initiatives, including by measuring the
  success of specific events and by conducting student satisfaction surveys continuously adapting and improving campus life services to
  achieve and maintain student satisfaction with MBZUAI and living in Abu Dhabi.
• Develop and manage the section s operational plans to facilitate efficient operations and ensure the achievement
  of MBZUAI s strategic objectives.
• Ensure timely provision of campus life data and reports to management and recommend
  operational improvements to support planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor monthly and quarterly
  performance results, identify areas for remediation, and if required take prompt corrective action to meet section and MBZUAI goals.
• Ensure section priorities and plans fully align with department and divisional objectives.
• Manage the section budgeting process in compliance with MBZUAI s Provost Office and finance department directives,
  policies, processes, and timelines.
• Effectively manage resources and report on the section budget; identify, account for, and
  report budget deviations; and take prompt, corrective action to ensure section goals are achieved within budget parameters.
• Contribute to accurate demand planning by analyzing and providing section data and information to inform accurate forecasting of
  resource requirements.
